“Cities of the Plain” by Cormac McCarthy

Cities of the Plain (The Border Trilogy, #3)Cities of the Plain by Cormac McCarthy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third and final installment of the Border Trilogy.

I’d say it is the weakest of the three but still a very good book.

The two main characters of the first two books are put together working at a ranch and being friends. One of the two falls in love with a Mexican prostitute and wants to marry her. But this is a Cormac McCarthy novel so there are no happy endings.

This is a man’s man kind of book focusing on good honest friendship and strong no-nonsense understanding father figures. And despite having these good things in one’s life, one might still find themselves following after doomed passions and self destruction.

A good book. It’ll make you think.
