The Alpha and the Omega

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
~Revelation 1:8 (NKJV)

He is the Alpha. Alpha is the first letter in the Greek alphabet. So Jesus is the first thing for all creation. All of creation comes after Him. How many of us put ourselves as the first thing, as though the universe was created merely for us?

He is the Omega. Omega is the last letter in the Greek alphabet. So Jesus is the end goal of everything. All of creation is moving towards Him. How many of us put our own goals/desires as the end thing, as though Jesus is nothing more than a means to an end?

If He is the Beginning and the End, then He is also the Middle. Everything that is going on today is under His watchful eye. How many of us think that He has lost control, or no longer cares, because of the inner and outer problems we face?

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
~John 1:1-5 (NKJV)

“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”
~Revelation 22:12-13 (NKJV)
