Outer Dark by Cormac McCarthy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The title is fitting for this book as it is indeed a pretty dark tale. No happy endings here.
It’s only 251 pages long, so it didn’t take long to read. It is a very mysterious story. I don’t think any character in this book could be called sane.
Cormac McCarthy is great at creating dream type worlds-meaning he takes ordinary life and gives it a slight twist so that the characters and places in the story are familiar and unfamiliar at the same time.
A good novel, after you’ve finished, will leave you curious and wanting to answer the unanswered questions put forth by the story line. This novel does that.
Good book.
